RC Battery and Receiver Case for OFNA Monster Pirate 18046

Description

Replacement battery and receiver case for the OFNA Monster Pirate, also sold as the Hobao Monster Pirate and often written Pirate Monster. Also fits the OFNA Dominator, which shares the platform. Replaces the discontinued OFNA 18046 battery case kit.

Three pieces: base, middle section and lid. Each is designed to be compatible with the original, so buy the set or replace one cracked piece and keep the rest of your box.

Printed in a plastic chosen to resist nitro fuel, UV and the heat of sitting beside a running engine.

What fits inside

The original was designed around a 5 cell NiCd or NiMH receiver pack, the 6 volt standard of the era, and this reproduction carries the same bay. The bay is stepped rather than a plain box, so what goes in depends on the shape of your pack as much as its volume.

• Straight stick packs up to 90 mm long by 20 mm wide by 34.5 mm tall
• 5 cell hump packs, which sit in the taller part of the bay
• 4 cell AA packs and holders
• Modern LiPo and LiFe receiver packs within those limits

Those are the maximum dimensions of the bay itself. Your pack has to sit inside them with its wires, so leave room for the leads and the connector when you measure.

Sub-C cells are too big for this case. If your pack is built from sub-C cells it will not go in, so check what you have before ordering.

The receiver sits in its own pocket in the middle section. The top lid is an access hatch, so you can fit the receiver or reach the plugs without disturbing the pack. The antenna tube presses into a 3 mm port in the upper section.

Fitment

Made for the OFNA Monster Pirate, also sold and listed as the Hobao Monster Pirate and often written Pirate Monster — the 1/8 scale nitro monster truck built by Hobao and sold by OFNA from 2001 as kits 14331 and 14336. It also suits the Dominator, which shares the platform. Retailers routinely cross listed the original 18046 for the Pirate 10 and 10T as well, so if that is what you have, check your box against the product photos before ordering.
