35mm Angled Fan Shroud for RC Motor and ESC Cooling

$8.49

An angled intake scoop for 35 mm motor and ESC fans. It bolts to the fan’s own 29 mm mounting pattern, lets the fan draw its cooling air from where you point it, and puts a wall down one side of the fan. Black or red, same price.

Description

A 35 mm fan sat on a motor or ESC heatsink pushes air down through the fins — and it has to take that air from directly above itself. Packed in under a body shell, that means breathing the hot, still air it has just finished heating. The fan is also completely exposed while it does it, and one stone through the blades leaves it out of balance and on its way out.

This shroud works on both. It bolts to the fan’s own mounting pattern and gives the fan a mouth to breathe through: air is drawn in at the angled opening, turned through the sweep and fed down into the fan, which pushes it out through the fins. You decide where the cooling air comes from rather than leaving it to chance. The duct narrows as it goes — about 38 mm across at its widest, down to 30 mm where it meets the fan — so the air speeds up as it is drawn in.

It shields one side

Be straight about what this is: a deflector, not a screen. The mouth has to stay open for the fan to breathe through it, so the shroud cannot seal the blades in — seen from directly overhead, roughly a third of the fan opening sits under solid material and the rest is open. What it does do is put a wall down one side, so grit arriving from that side meets plastic instead of blades. If you already run a fan cover you do not have to choose. Fit the shroud on its own, or leave the cover in place and run both — the cover is the screen, this is the ducting.

Fitting

Four holes on the standard 29 mm square pattern, one at each corner of the flange, with the duct set inboard of them. That clearance is deliberate: a driver reaches all four screws with the shroud in place, so you are not trying to start a screw down a blind pocket.

Fitment

Anything running a 35 mm fan on the 29 mm square pattern, on a motor or an ESC heatsink. We have fitted and run it on the Arrma Infraction 6S. Commonly that also means:

  • Arrma 6S BLX models running the 35 mm motor fan set on the BLX heatsink, which covers Infraction, Kraton, Typhon, Talion, Outcast, Notorious, Felony, Mojave, Limitless, Big Rock and Fireteam
  • Traxxas VXL-6S and VXL-8S speed controls
  • Spektrum Firma Smart 150A speed controls

Only the Infraction is one we have run ourselves. The rest use the same 35 mm fan, so it should drop straight on, but measure your fan before ordering. If you are unsure, send us a photo through the contact page and we will tell you straight.

Before you order

How long until my order ships?

Most orders leave within 1–3 business days. Some items are printed once you order, which can take a little longer. Either way you get tracking by email the moment the label is made.

What are these actually made of?

Engineering plastics, chosen per part for heat, UV and chemical resistance rather than for what is cheap to run. Anything destined to live outdoors or in a hot vehicle is printed in a material rated for it, and the resistance that matters is listed on each product page.

Can I return something I ordered?

Yes, within 30 days. Message us first, because most problems turn out to be a fitment question we can sort out in a couple of replies. Full terms are on the Refund and Returns page.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Not yet. We ship to the contiguous 48 states only, not Alaska, Hawaii, APO or FPO addresses, so customs, duties and international returns never become your problem.
