RC Battery and Receiver Case for OFNA Monster Pirate 18046

Description

OFNA stopped making the 18046 battery case a long time ago. What is left is new old stock at collector prices and used boxes with cracked lids, and because OFNA only ever sold it as a complete kit, a single broken piece meant buying the whole thing. Meanwhile the case is the one part standing between your receiver pack and the dirt, water and exhaust residue that a 1/8 nitro truck throws at it.

This is a faithful replacement for all three pieces. The base, the middle section and the lid are designed to be fully compatible with the original part, so you can buy the set or use any one piece alongside the OFNA parts you still have. Cracked lid only? Fit the lid. The rest of your box keeps working.

We print it in a plastic chosen for where it has to live rather than for what is cheap to run: chemical resistant against nitro fuel, UV resistant so it does not go chalky and brittle in the sun, and heat resistant enough to sit next to a running engine without losing its shape.

What fits inside

The original was designed around a 5 cell NiCd or NiMH receiver pack, the 6 volt standard of the era, and this reproduction carries the same bay. The bay is stepped rather than a plain box, so what goes in depends on the shape of your pack as much as its volume.

• Straight stick packs up to 90 mm long by 20 mm wide by 33 mm tall
• 5 cell hump packs, which sit in the taller part of the bay
• 4 cell AA packs and holders
• Modern LiPo and LiFe receiver packs within those limits

Sub-C cells are too big for this case. If your pack is built from sub-C cells it will not go in, so check what you have before ordering.

The receiver sits in its own pocket in the middle section, inside the same sealed box, and the antenna tube presses into a port in the upper section.

Fitment

Made for the OFNA Monster Pirate, the 1/8 scale nitro monster truck built by Hobao and sold by OFNA from 2001 as kits 14331 and 14336. It also suits the Dominator, which shares the platform. Retailers routinely cross listed the original 18046 for the Pirate 10 and 10T as well, so if that is what you have, check your box against the product photos before ordering.
